TWIST was retained in 2007 to help a mid-size, high-quality print shop pursue national accounts. Oliver had become well known for its quality locally, but needed an efficient and effective strategy to break through the clutter and noise of competitors on the national stage. We began to take a look at ways we could re-align the company’s strengths to start winning the hearts of high-end brands and larger clients.
All printers market with color as a testament of their quality. TWIST took the position that all printers can provide color, but it is service and reliability that most of them cannot compete on. TWIST identified that with all else perceived as equal, service and a dependable relationship are what the larger accounts crave. Building on an 80-year track record, TWIST developed the tag line “the hallmark of service” and worked with the company to establish the principles and practices to prove it.
The result was a brand with a handsome and seasoned look that translated to all of the client’s materials. We brought the story of Oliver’s founder, Wilfred George Oliver, to the forefront and showed how this English poet turned American craftsman left a legacy of quality. Through our design and materials, we leveraged the strengths of the Oliver sales force and repositioned the company for the clients they were targeting.
Within months of Oliver’s new brand launch, the company was able to attract and land several high-end, national clients. The new look has continued to impact the company’s bottom line and open up new horizons for a family-owned company looking forward to its second century of growth and success.
